About London Fashion Week Organised by British Fashion Council (BFC) Britain’s most stylish fashion event takes place twice a year since 1984. This year it occurred from the 20th to 24th of February. Everyone was able to enjoy designer shopping, watch catwalk shows and receive style advice from the best in the business at the special round table discussions and style talks around the town. By the way here is a random fact of the day: The UK fashion industry is estimated to support 797,000 jobs. About Fashion Scout This season I was working Front of House at the Fashion Scout – a leading international fashion showcase that pushes emerging design talents. It already has already organized eighteen fashion week seasons in London, Paris and Kiev. Fashion Scout is responsible for the launch of a whole generation of designers including Peter Pilotto, Felder Felder, David Koma, William Tempest, Eudon Choi, Pam Hogg, Fyodor Golan, Craig Lawrence, Baartmans and Siegel, Agi & Sam and most recently Phoebe English, Xiao Li, Yifang Wan and Gyo Yuni Kimchoe. About my job Our Front of House team was assisting PR with guest seating, helped production team with event set-up, was responsible for co-ordination with the catwalk areas and packing / distribution of goodie bags. Organising 5-7 fashion shows a day, we were also able to watch and record them. We also were sometimes helping backstage and interviewing the designers prior to the show. What a fantastic opportunity seeing the creation process from the beginning till the end! And not to mention networking opportunity that allowed me to meet fantastic photographers, filmmakers, make-up artists, models and designers who may be soon contributing to BackstageTales – stay tuned! Burberry experience was one of my personal highlights of the week as words can’t describe my love for this brand and the people working for it. Taking a look at the brand from the inside made it even clearer for me that I’m madly obsessed with it. I posted about it here and here. I was also attending various bloggers events, such as Bloggers Love Fashion London Week lounge, for example. Bloggers Hub organized a Gossip Girl themed event where I got to meet other bloggers, photographers and potential sponsors. I also managed to get to Somerset House for the shows every day where we took lots of street style images with my photographers. You can find full coverage here, here and here. I couldn’t be more grateful for this unique opportunity. I’m now fully committed to this field and 100% sure of what I want to do in the future. I almost didn’t sleep, ate just tiny canapés at the parties and events, but was still able to survive with the help of fantastic creative energy that was spread all around London. Golden skin tone, terracotta, bronze smoky eyes and natural matte lip – a beauty look from Burberry Prorsum A/W 15 fashion show was a real performance of natural make-up. As always with a new season Burberry presented the collection of cosmetics. This time the leading make-up artist Wendy Rowe created a natural warm beauty look. The main premiere of the collection was the new lipstick Burberry Kisses Lipstick in shade Nude Beige No. 01 (the launch of which is scheduled for 3rd of March). With its help Rowe has created natural matte lips that complemented the main focus of the whole beauty look: earthy-bronze smoky eyes created with new creamy shadows. Make-up artist has applied mascara Bold Lash Mascara ebony color to the base of the eyelashes and then made a loop using black pencil Effortless Kohl through the upper and lower lashes. In addition, she put a new bog-smoky shade (Storm Green) of the same pencil to enhance the color. After that she applied Eye Colour Cream in the coal and beige colours. Delicately putting it with her fingertips Wendy has created an even tone with an effect of smoke. Both colors will be available in July 2015. At the end of Rowe slightly outlined eyebrows using Effortless Eyebrow Definer. Natural and light-bearing skin was created with the help of the new line of tonal resources that has already been sent on sale to the shops. Wendy prepared skin with Effortless Eyebrow Definer and then made an even tone with the Fresh Glow Fluid Foundation. The final touch was light natural blush shade Earthy Blush and, of course, a manicure. Next fall khaki will definitely one of the main trends in manicure and beautiful warm tone Khaki Green from the Burberry show is clearly one of the best. In addition two other colours were used in the show: Cadet Green No. 206 and Poppy Black No. 223, both from A/W 15 collection of Burberry. You can shop these items from Burberry.com
Chinese designer Lulu Liu presented her A/W 15 collection at Freemason's Hall on Monday 23 February. As described by Fashion Scout, "Lulu Liu combines the luxury and opulence of high-end fashion with dexterity and quality; creating cutting edge garments that are not only show stopping and unique". Lulu Liu moved to London in 2008 to study at the London College of Fashion. Whilst studying, Lulu interned with legendary design houses Alexander McQueen and Giles Deacon. To date, Lulu Liu has showcased seven seasons with Fashion Scout at London Fashion Week. The brand is devoted to using only luxury fabrics, including the ancient Xiangyunsha silk which is known to be used in garments for the elite of Asian Royal society. Combined with a contrast of light to dark and pastel to bright colour palettes, with sharp and voluminous silhouettes Lulu Liu manages to create her own unique twist of elegance. This season Lulu Liu created a feminine and elegant collection that received overwhelming response from buyers and press, as well as gaining much attention from both UK and international media. Lulu Liu as always included her signature designs to the collection: we saw a lot of geometric and voluminous silhouettes combined with bold uses of colour as well as her signature ornate handprints on the coats and skirts. Many garments were created in collage-style - one of the most popular trends of the past few seasons. We also saw oversized pleats mixed with fur, long layers, bright knitwear, and vivid colours of indigo and vinoux. Collections of Chinese designer have been exhibited at the V&A London, Future Map Exhibition, Vauxhall Fashion Scout 2012 and Zipzone Parisshowroom. Her garments were photographed in editorials of such fashion magazines as Vogue, Elle, and Cosmopolitan. It's been busy as always (maybe one of the busiest days of this fashion week for me), but I managed to get to Somerset House before the shows started and take some street style photographs. Here's what the guests were wearing! :) I was very lucky to go and see the Burberry Prorsum A/W15 show on Monday at London Fashion week. So having the chance to go to Burberry HQ in London felt very special, especially after seeing the show and seeing the whole new autumn/winter collection up close and personal was a unique experience in itself. Come and see what goes on in Burberry HQ! At HQ of Burberry I met Christopher Bailey - the Chief Creative and Chief Executive officer of the brand. The man I adore and admire. The man who took the Burberry design, advertising and corporate art direction reins and brought the brand into a completely new level. Here's what he said about the A/W 15 collection: "It's this idea of something very classic, combined with something just a little bit more free-spirited. We wanted it to feel a little bit raw together. When you take a poncho or cape and it’s kind of... shrugged on. I wanted it to feel joyous and upbeat and I liked that thing of mixing different genres, styles and periods throughout the whole show”. “We’re all caught up in this world of so frantic and I am the first one to love it. I thrive on that energy. But sometimes you need to just put that little pause and reflect on that”. A/W 15 collection was saturated with Boho `60-70s vibes. Burberry's moto to 'protect, inspire and explore' could have been clearly identified here. A reflection on tradition was seen in applying A-line silhouettes, epaulettes, flap pockets, gun flaps and camouflage palettes to the trench coat. Burberry also looked at traditional British craft applying the technique of creating Durham quilts (layers of cotton sewn together with topstitching for a padded finish) to their trench coats. Materials which were used for the creation of this collection include lamb's wool, suede, shearling intarsia and cashmere. Burberry is not only setting the trends, but keeping them as well. For example, this season we saw lots of fringed suede and animal prints. It was seen not only in the clothes, but in accessories as well. For instance, the shoes were designed in fringed suede and animal prints were applied to the traditional Burberry Bucket Bag. Colours of the Autumn/Winter season according to Burberry are deep and rich - vinous, indigo and teal. Burberry HQ is as digitally advanced as its flagship at 121 Regents Street. There are large interactive screens everywhere, computers and iPads that you can use to order the items from the collection straight away. Now here're few of my own favourites form this collection => Shop selected ready-to-wear and accessories which can be personalised with your name or initials until Monday 9 March as part of our Runway Made to Order service.
